Having some computer issues, so this A’s logo will have to hold the place of our usual baseball cap themed power rankings visual. Also holding in place, No. 1 Oakland. Update: The logo has been replaced.

1. (1/½/2/6/5/7/6/2/1/1/3/9/2/3/5/15) A’s: No reason to jump off the bandwagon now, as the pitching they’ve taken a 2-1 lead against is as solid as it gets.

2. (6/2/1/1/7/10/5/8/9/4/5/5/8/7/7/7/12) Red Sox: Two huge home runs prevented their sweep, but likely won’t derail them.

3. (2/¾/5/5/7/9/11/4/2/2/4/3/1/1/1/1) Cardinals: Their rookies are showing their worth… and the Cardinals’ depth. Evenly matched with the Pirates, which is why I think whoever wins Game 5 will move on to the World Series.

4. (4/7/5/6/8/8/6/4/6/¾/1/¼/6/6/9) Pirates: The Pirates had the Cardinals on the brink, but couldn’t finish them off. That could cost them in St. Louis.

5. (9/10/9/4/3/½/1/3/12/13/24/24/23/20/27/25) Dodgers: Look as strong as anyone, but the Kershaw move was a curious one. It worked, but will they be riding him like the Brewers did C.C. a few years back? That might not work out so well.

6. (5/4/7/8/4/2/3/2/5/5/6/9/7/9/10/11/5) Tigers: Torii Hunter says it’s not over at 2-1, and he’s right. The A’s fans know that all too well. But they have to score in more than two innings in the playoffs. Three games, three runs twice won’t get it done.

7. (8/9/10/14/10/6/11/9/1/6/7/11/19/18/14/13/17) Rays: Good with their backs against the wall, but “3 in a row against the Red Sox” good? Probably not.

8. (7/6/8/7/2/3/1/3/8/11/12/10/11/5/2/4/4) Braves: They always seem to leave earlier than you expect when they make the playoffs.

9. (3/5/3/10/11/11/13/5/7/9/11/6/13/17/27/12/7) Indians: Had a wonderful surge to finish the season, but it was on the backs of sub .500 teams. It shouldn’t be a surprise that they were eliminated once the competition level increased.

10. (10/8/6/3/9/9/10/12/11/10/9/8/2/3/5/3/2) Reds: Not sure finishing on a 6-game losing streak outweighs making the playoffs in 3 of 4 years, but the Reds organization felt that way. Good luck to Dusty Baker’s replacement duplicating that success.
